Nancy Nowak, PSA, IAPS -MC, has won numerous awards including the 2015 Pastel 100 First Place in the Landscape Catagory. In the morning demo, she will focus on getting a painting correct from the beginning, stressing picking and analyzing a reference photo, value studies and composition, simplifying, telling a story, underpainting, and all of the preparation that goes into making a successful painting.  Workshop includes step by step painting instruction and critiques.

Lunch can be purchased for $8.00 and is served from 12:00 to 1:00. Please reserve and pay for lunch when you register for the workshop by clicking on the "Register" button to the left.


Supply List:


Soft Pastels - (Schminke, Great American, Terry Ludwig, Rembrandt, etc.) The more the better! It's good to have a selection of hard (Nupastels) and soft pastels.


Sanded Paper - 9 x 12, 11 x 14, 12 x 16; either UArt, 400, 500, or 600 or Wallis, 2 sheets. Keep to cream or white color.


Backboard - Piece of foam core works well


Small sketch pad

Tracing paper

Kneaded eraser and pencil

Small jar of rubbing alcohol and brush

Masking tape

Reference photos, at least 5 x 7
